Peter Geiger Donates $50,000 to Lewiston’s SHAREcenter

April 24, 2024 – Lewiston, ME – Peter Geiger, Vice Chairman of the Board of Geiger, has joined forces with his company to back the SHAREcenter, a non-profit organization committed to salvaging and repurposing resources. Geiger has personally contributed $50,000, while his family’s business consistently supports the cause with annual donations totaling nearly 150 pallets of goods.

The SHAREcenter caters to schools, non-profits, and select for-profit entities through a membership initiative. Members have access to repurposed items to complement their needs. The organization diligently gathers, categorizes, and offers rescued materials such as arts and crafts supplies, office essentials, classroom resources, cleaning products, personal hygiene items, new attire, school supplies, and STEAM materials to its members. Moreover, SHAREcenter redirects office, classroom, and household furniture, as well as housewares and various other items, diverting them from landfills and distributing them to Maine residents in need.

Expressing gratitude for the significant contribution, Lisa Rodrigues, Executive Director of SHAREcenter, remarked, “We are so thankful for this generous donation from Peter Geiger. Peter’s gift has helped us expand our reach and impact while continuing to provide valuable resources to our members. We are committed to reducing waste while supporting Maine’s education and economy. Peter and Geiger’s backing is fundamental to advancing our mission.”

Peter Geiger lends support to the SHAREcenter financially, with in-kind donations, and volunteer hours. “I am proud to support SHAREcenter and its important work,” said Peter Geiger. “SHAREcenter is a vital resource for our community, and it plays a critical role in reducing waste and supporting our environment and economy. I am confident that SHAREcenter will continue its growth, making a positive impact on our community and would encourage other businesses and business owners to consider supporting this important community non-profit.”
